Arthur "Sonny" Sisney
April 10, 2025

Arthur “Sonny” Sisney Jr, 83, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 29, 2025. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 in the Ponca City I.O.O.F Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Arthur Sisney Jr. was born on September 20, 1941 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born the first child of Arthur Sisney Sr. and Opal Fern Potts. Arthur was nicknamed “Sonny” by his father. On February 16, 1963 he married the love of his life Donna Sue Hallmark. Together they had three children, Arthur Paul, Diana Gayle and John Cary.
Arthur knew from the age of five that he wanted to be a police officer. He started his career in law enforcement as a dispatcher for the Blackwell Police Department when he was eighteen years old. While employed at Blackwell Police Department, Arthur was promoted to a police officer. He continued his career in law enforcement in Stillwater and then moved back to Blackwell. While working at the Blackwell Police Department he was accepted into the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy in 1973.
After graduating from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy Arthur received badge number 323 and wore it proudly and honorably for 25 years. During his 25-year career as a highway patrolman he was stationed at Enid, Oklahoma and the Cimarron Turnpike. He retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1999 while he was working on the Cimarron Turnpike. After retiring, he personalized his license plate with his badge number.
The rest of Arthur’s years were spent out on his land relaxing and working cattle. Instead of calling himself a cop or a policeman Dad loved to think of himself as a peace officer. His whole life was peaceful and now he is at peace with his Lord and Savior. If our dad could tell the world one thing he would say “read your Bible”.
Arthur was proceeded in death by both parents, and his wife, Donna Sue (Hallmark) Sisney.
He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Kent, Kat, Leroy and Jimmy.
