Gloria Joyce Rowe Obituary
Gloria Joyce Rowe, 84, returned to her heavenly home on March 29, 2025 [after 15 months of bravely battling kidney failure]. She attended schools in the states of Washington and Oklahoma, graduating from Blackwell High School in 1959. On March 5, 1961, Joyce married Clayton Elmer Rowe at the Presbyterian Church in Blackwell. They made their home on the farm SW of town. During their union, they were blessed with two daughters, Cindy and Patty. In the early years, Joyce helped with farming, raising wheat and cattle. After 32 ½ years as Director of Indian Education for Blackwell Public Schools, Joyce retired to the farm spending time visiting and playing with her grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Clayton, parents, Edgar and June Hawkins Murphy, brothers Michael Murphy, Lucky Pat Murphy, sisters Albina (Murphy) Odell, Georgia (Murphy) Bennett and grandson Tristan Wynn. She is survived by her daughters Cindy (Darin) Wynn, and Patty Rowe; grandson Landon Wynn and granddaughter Annalaura Rowe, all of Blackwell; sister April Murphy and a brother Edgar Murphy along with numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Kidney Fund and/or the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to sincerely thank ACG Hospice for their outpouring of compassion, kindness, and care during Joyce’s time of need. Each person involved was truly appreciated. A private family memorial service will be held later.
