Blackwell Fire Department will face off against Ponca F.D. for a good cause.

Blackwell Fire Department will be going grill-to-grill against two teams from Ponca CIty Fire Department to raise money for a good cause,

The Fire and Life Safety Council (FLSC) announces their upcoming fundraiser “All Fired Up” to be

held Saturday, July 27, at the Pioneer Tech Conference Center in Ponca City.

All Fired Up is a steak grilling competition pitting teams of firefighters against one another to determine who grills the best steak.

This year’s competition includes firefighter teams from Ponca City Green shift, Ponca City Red Shift, and Blackwell Fire.

Ticket holders will sample ribeye steaks cooked from all teams and enjoy side dishes and dessert as well. We will also have an auction including vacation packages to US destinations like Jackson, WY, Nashville, TN, Asheville, NC, and New England, beach locations including Belize and Costa Rica, and even a photo safari to Africa!

Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce, Ponca City

Fire Department Station 1, Blackwell Fire Department, or by contacting a member of the

organization.

Grilling begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 7:00 p.m.

The primary goal of All Fired Up is to raise funds to support the projects of the FLSC.

These projects include free car seat safety checks and fire prevention programs for kids.

Providing tools to better train local emergency responders in Kay County is another significant

effort of the FLSC.

Thanks to past successful events the organization has donated, in addition to $75,000 toward Pioneer Tech’s Emergency Services training tower, funds for these other projects: Purchase of automated CPR devices for both PCFD and Newkirk Fire Department, Grant to aid in the purchase of bunker gear for Kildare Fire Department, and the purchase of tools to aid in the training of firefighters and medical personnel at Pioneer Tech.
